Tutoring & Home Learning

You do not need a formal diagnosis to access my specialist numeracy support; I am here for anyone who finds the world of numbers overwhelming.

By combining expert dyscalculia interventions with dedicated GCSE tutoring, I help learners of all ages bridge the gap between their potential and their current attainments.

My goal is to provide a safe, patient space where we can work together to build the confidence, resilience, and practical strategies needed for education and daily life.”

One to one Tuition and Mentoring

I offer specialist, individualised numeracy tuition for children, young people, and adults who find maths significantly challenging. Please note that a formal diagnosis of Dyscalculia is not required to access my tuition; I am here to support anyone who struggles with number-based learning.

My one-to-one sessions are delivered in a supportive setting, either in person or remotely, ensuring a safe space to build confidence and skills at your own pace.

In addition to my specialist tuition, I offer dedicated GCSE support for students who find the secondary curriculum challenging. I help break down complex exam questions into manageable steps, reducing maths anxiety and ensuring you are fully prepared for your assessments.

A Tailored Approach to Learning

Every learner is unique.  I focus on utilising your individual strengths and existing coping strategies to tackle the areas that feel most difficult. Following an initial evaluation of your needs, I develop a bespoke Individual Learning Plan.  This plan is built around your specific goals, whether that is passing a school exam, managing workplace data, or simply gaining confidence with “everyday” maths.

I use a range of effective multisensory techniques specifically designed for dyscalculia, focusing on:

  • Number Sense: Developing a deep understanding of quantities and the “number line.”

  • Mathematical Operations: Building accuracy and fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Place Value & Fractions: Visualising how numbers are structured using concrete materials.

  • Maths Language: Decoding the vocabulary and “word problems” that often cause confusion.

  • Working Memory & Retrieval: Strategies to help hold and manipulate numbers in the mind.

  • Time Management: Reading clocks, estimating time, and managing busy schedules.

  • Money & Finance: Gaining independence with budgeting, change, and transactions.

  • Maths Anxiety: Building emotional resilience and self-confidence to reduce “maths panic.”

  • Study Skills: Specialist revision techniques for GCSEs, Functional Skills, or professional exams.

Evidence-Based Interventions

I use recognised, structured interventions to support individual needs. My approach follows a Concrete Pictorial Abstract  framework. This involves moving from using physical objects to visual drawings before progressing to written numbers, ensuring the “why” behind the maths is fully understood before focusing on the “how.”

Tuition for Children

I can collaborate directly with your child’s school or college to design a framework of intervention.

Tuition for Adults

For adult learners, I can work with your employer to build a profile of your strengths and challenges. Together, we can design a framework of support to help you manage professional tasks, such as data entry, spreadsheets, or time-sensitive calculations, with greater independence and less stress.
